You have the "dream intrigue" going on with this one, Simon.

Thanks Linny comment appreciated, I love the dreamy/jokey world of Bruce Docker, your stuff and the Chapman brothers, my mad tree painting three posts back verges on this.

Simon, did you ever read Edgar Alan Poe? Tales of mystery and darkness. I like it. Why does the second mini roundabout work better than the first for me? I like the idea of presenting something that everyone knows but investing it with questions and unknowns which you only see if you are open to them. You do that.

Thanks for that analysis, I think its spot on. The word roundabout has always seemed slightly comic to me, in Cardiff there's a roundabout plastered with an improbable amount of roadsigns, and consequently known locally as "The Magic Roundabout". Poe, yes strange and foreboding, but its nice to have also a hint of humour, comedy can be deep too, love Linny d. vine , Chapman Brothers and Bruce Docker, (see above) for using humour as a reality juggling tool.
Second Mini Roundabout is twice the size, maybe its the blue greys that are cooler more nocturnal? Personally I think the bottom right window in the first one is about the nicest thing I have ever painted, balance of subject, medium and painter.
