Hot off the press: my good friend Keith Hornblower and I have organised a painting holiday in Tuscany for September, 2013! This is a unique opportunity to work with not one, but two Fellows of the Society of Architectural Illustration. Although we both specialise in the rendering of buildings, this is not an architectural study course, but a chance to revel (paint!) in the beautiful Tuscan countryside and all that it offers. Numbers are strictly limited, and you are assured of a tutor/student ratio of 1:5, so you're guaranteed plenty of attention.

Overcast Strumble Head

14 inches wide, Plein air and studio, acrylic .Kept forms and colour simple, sky got darker and darker, ended up like a Knapp Fisher sky.

This painting was a lot better before I tried to improve it.

Dryslwyn Castle in the Towy valley (Wales) is such a brilliant place to paint from. Panoramic 360 views, so you can chose best sun setting for time of day etc.

Very freely done on the spot,

Again this should really be viewed large to get it.

This painting is about a month old, finally got round to uploading it.

Evening Towy

Plein air and studio, acrylic on card 11.5 " wide.
Was happy with the mix of colours in this, this painting moved considerably from its beginnings, tried to wrestle with the foreground vs background centre of intrest. ends up kinda soft and harmonious.

Sat in the rain, you dont normally get an excuse to sit in the rain, I need to sit in the rain more often.

Bend in River Towy

 Liked the way the river falls splat on the landscape like a wet fish.

Plein air and studio, acrylic on card. 29 cms wide. Wanted building to look organic and dynamic.

Dinefwr Castle Sunset, Acrylic on card 42 cms wide, plein air and studio.

Fairly pleased with this, but feel there are too many colours going on, heck I should give up on being tasteful.
Again this should be seen full sized to get it.
