Toy Landscape

Pass this view regularly in the car, it has the air of artificiality that you would find in a kids improbable arrangements of toys: the barn is on a nice little hill (why?), the track curves picturesquely, but pointlessly, oh and the sun makes it look improbably ideal.

Hi Cardesin, yes it looks like a childrens book illustration idealised and sunny, have you seen the Chapman brothers paintings where they join up the dots in childrens puzzle books to make horrible monsters? see http://www.whitecube.com/artists/chapman/viii/ I find all their work very very funny, and very very good.

Hi Joanne, yes the light is tending towards orange, think your colours are amazingly observed, is there a method you use or just lots of practice?

Hi Vicente good to here from you again, this painting is more realistic than usual, but I hope I havent lost any of the poetry and mystery.

Wow Simon, you don't post that often, but when you do, it's great! The feel of Summer comes through so strongly in this one - great colours.

Yes, all is as you say, but I like how you treated the foliage back there. That to me is the challenge.
