Grey wall.

This painting is far too wholesome to be enjoyed, its the equivalent of organic brown rice, mixed with sawdust for extra roughage.
Oil on card 10 by 6 inches.

Your description has given this painting a whole new meaning. But I love the grey tones.

Love the description Simon. I'm quite a health nut, but I also have sweet tooth. No worries though because I'm usually able to fit in at least one training session a day.

I think one of the things I like best about this piece, is the fogged window from inside a car effect. Could be romantic or creepy. The viewer gets to decide.

Thanks Liz, yes grey is so wholesome, I am really attracted to limited palletes, but paintings can get to look a bit booring. I think that colour and food have a lot in common, you hae to have a satisfactory ballance of flavours and colours too. Hot spicey reds, bland whites and greys, light crispy greys, I could go on and on.

Thanks Bri, well fogged up its an easy fix if the painting is looking a little static, its a greasy pole the gravitas / cheap trick axis.

i like the wall, the softness of the curve, almost fairytale like. it differs in energy from some of your other paintings but its peacefulness works. what are you working on now? looking forward to seeing it on the blog soon. r.

Thanks Rahina, day job is my excuse for lack of blog stuff, but its also a bit of a mental re appraisal of what medium to use, Don Grey uses watercolour in a really poetic way as does an artist I have recently discovered,William Selwyn, so I think I should use my years of experience as a watercolour painter more productively than my amateurish oil efforts. But then I have been here before, so am I really just going round in circles and forgetting the lessons that need to stick?

Thanks Rahina, yes its been a while, I have got 3 paintings on half, I now have a new excuse, I recently had a minor stroke, which inhibits my current ability to concentrate, but I am slowly returning to normality, was quite nice not to do anything for a while.

Thanks Rob, well I am feeling fine now, but been spending half my time in hospital undergoing "tests", which involve a lot of feet tickling between prolonged bouts of reading "Hello " magazine. If the foot tickling goes really well they may let me drive again next week.
