Spring Wood

Part Plein Air, part studio, acrylic, approx 30cm by 25cm. Basic composition based on thirds, then an awful mess inbetween. This should be seen large scale to "get it".

Mondrian/Bridget Riley-esque in shape if not colour. That blue diagonal is shouting out to be developed further. It's a symphony in geometry. Nice.

Thanks Laura, its not a million miles from your plein air work, nice.

Yep the geometry was sussed first then that allowed lots of freedom to play with the paint. This one again could have been abstracted/developed further, but I quited whilst ahead. Have got some heavy bodied acrylics arriving today, so looking forward to getting some of that plastered on in a more expressive way shortly.

Great to see these new paintings, Simon. They're all bold statements that paradoxically evoke such fragile, ephemeral moods and emotions.
