Yes, its cool - and quite compelling. I have been back about 3 times now to look. I like that slice of green being swallowed up by the darkness. Perhaps if I keep looking it will eventually tell me what's in there.

Thanks Sheila, I like these edge of reason paintings, sort of familiar but not really, and letting the paint do its own thing.

Thanks Sally, I am glad you cant define what the hook is,

Your degree of abstraction is stunning and your use of soft edges brilliant. I enjoyed looking at your paintings so much.
Cheers from Vienna!

Hi Stefan, love your work too, we too have an art group "Frank Art" http://frankartllandeilo.blogspot.com/ I see you guys do a lot of plein air painting, we do a lot of sitting around in the pub.

Pub Walk or is very dramatic... the pull of the unknown...into the wilds of the night feel!

Simon Jones said...

Thanks Linny, yes thats the sort of thing, and that pattern/reality/abstract/drunken/layered reality thing I was after too.

Simon, love these recent paintings: as always you create such an intriguing atmosphere, leaving the viewer wanting to wander further.

Hi Simon, Scratch an architectural illustrator and you'll find a frustrated fine artist underneath! Great work - you don't look all that frustrated! John
