Hi Rahina yes I was aiming to allude to something away from the scene of the painting, sort of offstage in time or space. Maybe thats why I like painting non events, sort of muzzac to make the mind wander.
Just found your site. I love the simplicity the drama. You are also a wonderful watercolorist. I need to listen to that. You have just made my blog list. Dayle
Hi Joanne, love your work, mine looks kind of sloppy next to yours.I heard a great quote from scottish comedein Frankie Boyle, that a person was so boring that he managed to "break space time", in a way thats wahat I am trying to do, through spectacularly mundane paintings I am hoping to be transcendant.
Simon, hi - I think this is the most moody, atmospheric and cleverest painting I have seen of yours. It reminds me of some of Bill Wray's best work. I love the very big forms there, so simply put, with a hint of something interesting or magnificent going on beyond those horizons. That sounds a bit trite but honestly, for me this is a terrific painting.
Yes its sort of a mental con trick, mundane content but colours and brushstrokes are strident. Its a way to, sort of observe reality intensely when you catch it off guard.
I am Vicente Herrero, artist Spanish painter .Por a link, have seen your blog, I like much the intimacy of the topics and the diversity of skills, very controlled at all time. Congratulation, and pardon for my English, is of a program translator.
Hi William thanks for dropping by, love your work, and similarly some of your stuff is about non events. I have arrived at this partly cos I used to be a painter of well known "picturesque views" ie events, and my day painting job is very content or event based. Also I do like the idea of extreme non events, suppose its a bit Dada or anti art.

:))) something lurking there, feel like something is about to happen amongst those moody colours. Great work Simon. r.
Actually, you are saying a lot. Good painting!
That such a beautiful composition ...
Almost abstract!

Hi Deborah, yes it is rather minimalist, and wierd, but I feel it seems to justify itself better than my more cluttered offerings.

Hi Dayle, welcome, thanks for the encouraging words.

Hi Vicente, thanks for the comments, your work is amazing, fantastic light and cool shadows.
A painter of corners of nothing. I get it. ;-)
