I like this sort of thing too. I like that simplification of the street, not just abstracting it into bigger shapes but giving it mood and feeling. Really like this one Simon. Good to see your work again.
Comments appreciated Sheila, I am still cropping the paintings to smaller simpler compositions. I reckon the fewer the elements, the more dirct the result.Paintings above and below this one evolved with throwing paint, and have ended up more dynamic.
Thanks a lot Liz, late evening is my favourite light, well 3 oclock on a summer afternoon is not bad either. De Chiricho too, he emerged into an sunlit piazza, after a long illness to such an emotional intensity that he painted this moment again and again.
