Penclawdd Wales.

Penclawdd, well known cockle fishing village used to be right next to sea, now theres a kind of void where the sea used to be, so the main character is offstage in space and time.
I suppose the implied absence of something is what attracted me to this scene. Its an idea I borrowed from Hopper.

Nice painting Simon, I'm trying to speak to a cockle gatherer in that area, for Country Kitchen magazine.
I don't suppose you know anyone? I'm assuming you live in the area. We're doing a piece to coincide with St Davids Day etc. and plan to feature 4 recipes at least of Welsh food.
Cockles definitely will feature, but we'd like a bit of 'human interest'.

Hi David, will see if I know someone who knows someone who is a cockle picker.
