Storm Thistles: watercolour Plein air 10" wide


This needs to be seen BIG, its really twee seen small.
Had a stormy couple of painting sessions over the weekend. Very nice it was too.

Woah yes, love the shapes in this one - then brave blue and smoky violet. You're a brave man. Nobody realises the vagaries of our climate unless they live here. But you see this what you have captured. It's easy to paint something that stands still but this landscape doesn't.

Thanks Sheila, shapes ended up not as I intended, they improved drastically with a good crop. Love these blustery lively days. Am looking out now on flat drizzle.

That's the advantage too of working on paper - although I have been known to get the saw out and crop hardboard.
