Overcast Strumble Head

14 inches wide, Plein air and studio, acrylic .Kept forms and colour simple, sky got darker and darker, ended up like a Knapp Fisher sky.

The muted colours here are to me magical. They look even more dramatic against a white or off white background. How long have you had a black blog background? (but sorry, maybe you like it). I love that vibrant dark spot somewhere centre which sets off the rest. Colour is good - its the most difficult thing to master and drives me up the wall.

Changed background to white, fresh for spring. Yep I think that dark spot does a lot for the painting, my previous favourite painting, years ago also had some dark spots in the centre, I think spots are currently underrated, in cave painting and kids art they are big, we need more spots.

Now there's happy for you. Wow, what a difference that makes. It's like instead of it knocking on the door we opened the door to see it. Drama, beautiful harmony. Love it.
