Porthgain

This was partly Plein Air and partly studio. I wanted to kind of marry calligraphic brush strokes to dynamic landscape forms. So I saw the grass clifftop as blancmange cascading over the fingers of rock that make up the cliffs. Nothing much considered or detatched about this way of painting, but its kind of invigorating. Could have abstracted it further, but thought I,d quit whilst I was ahead.

I honestly think this is a cracker. Really, really, really like it.

Really glad you like it, plein air kind of opens up lots of possibilities, the presence of the landscape really energises the painting process,in a way that photographs and sketches just cant, well pros and cons..
